I have recently spoken with a number of organisations about the coming iXBRL filing regime for UK Corporates with HMRC. This ranges from FTSE 100 companies, private companies, Large Accountancy Firms and software solution providers.
During one of these conversations, it was pointed out to me that there is very little information on iXBRL available. There is also a distinct lack of public statements by solution providers on iXBRL.
Armed with a copy of Google and some prior knowledge, I therefore set out to see whether they were right. With accounting periods already in full swing that will have to be reported in iXBRL to HMRC, you would have thought that there would be a glut of people advertising their wares by now…
iXBRL is an issue for Companies filing Tax Returns in the UK, though needing to be addressed by accounts production systems. I therefore choose to look primarily at the main software vendors in this area, and also at the Big Accountancy and Consulting Firms that might offer services.
